I have worked at the Houston Center for Christian Counseling since 1991 in various capacities. I am presently credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist and supervisor. I am also a consultant-in-training in the use of EMDR for treating trauma-related issues. I love working with children, adolescents, and their families. I also teach parents how to enhance their parenting skills and, for those who are open to it, how to further help their children through specific prayer. I work with adults as well, especially those strongly affected in various ways by childhood histories of trauma, neglect or abuse, depression, anxiety, or sexual addiction. I love my work and believe that in it God has pulled all the strands of my life experience together.
I was raised in Japan as a daughter of missionaries. In the 60s, immediately following Bible College in Canada and nursing and midwifery training in Britain, I went to Ethiopia as a career missionary. The fall of Haile Selassie and the advent of communist rule there changed my plans, but not before I had married and started a family. Today I am the mother of four young adults and a married foster son. I am also a proud grandmother to two active toddlers.
