I am a Christ centered therapist. That means I depend upon the wisdom, love and mercy of God to empower and guide the therapy process. Although my doctorate and training in marriage and Family Counseling provide professional acuity and background, through the years of practice I have discovered that the hope Jesus provides can be the engine and the power behind the change.

My specialties include facilitating healing of post-trauma and sexual abuse issues, women’s issues (including self-esteem and assertiveness), depression and grief. I have been trained in and employ both Theophostic Prayer and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) as methods for trauma resolution. Both have demonstrated very successful results.

Reaping the advantage of a diverse clinical background, I have served in the profession for thirty years in such venues as youth agencies, psychiatric hospitals, as assistant professor of child psychiatry at University of Texas Medical Branch, in churches and private practice. Postgraduate work included on externship with Houston-Galveston Family Institute and a doctorate from Texas Women’s University in 1989.

A turning point in my life and career occurred when I was able to train with Frances McNutt Ministries for prayer ministry and an opportunity opened to participate in the Shalom Ministries for Wholeness at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church. For five years I was able to witness first-hand the changes when God is in the formula. I was ultimately able to serve the ministry through the position of Executive Director.

I enjoy meeting people face-to-face to facilitate growth and healing. Individuals experience many types of brokenness. No one is pressured to move past their comfort zones before they’re ready; only encouraged to set goals and seek truth for themselves. Truth is where healing lies. It’s about life choices. Those who so choose can allow the friendship and mentoring of God, receiving peace and direction. If not, it’s still okay. You are accepted.

I have been happily married since 1977 to my husband, Doug. We have two grown children and six grandchildren. I love the mountains, playing with my cat, reading mysteries and eating Mexican food. I look forward to meeting you in person.
