Sugar LandI have been in private practice as a Christian counselor
with HCCC since June of 2005. My clinical training was completed at Texana
Mental Health Center where I worked with adults with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder
and major depression. My focus and continued training at HCCC is with children,
teen girls, parents and adult women.
I believe people come to counseling to pursue healing for
themselves and their children. I join
with my clients as we explore goals for counseling and whether a faith based
approach is desired. I assist my client in developing personalized strategies
that can be helpful in their unique situations. I specialize in working with
children of both sexes up to the age of 12 (and their parents), and with girls
and women from ages 12 up.
I am trained in working with mental illnesses primarily
in adults. I have specialty training in children’s play therapy and am a
Registered Play Therapist. I am a facilitator of Love and Logic Parenting courses.
I am also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and
Master’s degree of Social Work. I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker by
the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.
