I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts/Social Work major from St. Edward's University in Austin. I also am recognized as a Qualified Clinical Social Worker by the National Association of Social Workers; an American Psychotherapy Association Diplomate; am a certified Mediator, belong to the National Association of Social Workers and expect to complete my certification in Geriatric Studies this year. In addition I am certified in Critical Incident Stress Management and volunteer with the American Red Cross in Disaster Mental Health. I have been actively involved with cultural competency trainings and have led classes in stress management, communication and psychological first aid.
I have over 27 years of experience working with individuals, families, the elderly and people with disabilities. I have been an employee as well as a manager and a senior manager so I understand the stresses at all levels of employment and have been through downsizing as well as accelerated growth in the business world. I have been married since 1966, have grandchildren and grown children.
My practice focus is on Brief Therapy. I enjoy working with adults, either individually or couples, on issues of communication, anxiety, self-esteem, parenting, life stage adjustment and geriatrics/chronic illness. While we can't change yesterday we CAN change how we let it affect us. It is a joy and a blessing to watch people move toward their personal goals and change their outlook on life as they identify and claim the power God has given them!
