Lucy Newson

Lucy Newson

Katy Office

Lucy dedicates herself to combining  sound  psychological counseling with truth-based Biblical principles characterized by unconditional love and positive regard for those she treats.  This supports her clients in making behavioral, emotional, and situational changes to improve their life experience and fulfillment.
In addition to a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University,  Lucy has 270 hours of addiction  training and has worked alongside those recovering from  addictions  and codependency in her practice in New Jersey and now at  Manna House in Brookshire , Texas.  Further, she is a  qualified and experienced mediator in both basic and family mediations in the state of Texas, having received her training at the University of Texas  and the Dispute Resolution Center in Houston.  Lucy is convinced that mediation and counseling exist side by side as a means of opening the door to meaningful communication and resolving conflicts. Both affect  the quality of relationships; one on an emotional, personal level, the other in the legal venue ; both promoting healing and resolution.

Helping others to heal is a passion for Lucy  and she is experienced in treating a wide variety of issues. She deals with depression, anger, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion in men and women, works to empower adolescents in navigating a difficult world, and designates a sizeable portion of her practice to marriage counseling and relationship enhancement.  One of her specialties is guiding  women (and men) whose spouses have been unfaithful  through the process of grieving   with the goal of restoring healthy balance to their lives whether the marriage continues or ends.  Some marriages will survive and eventually become even more intimate after the healing and changes necessary after infidelity, and some will succumb to the damage inflicted or the partner’s refusal to repent.  It is important  for couples to have assistance in  dealing with  emotions and discerning   what  is the next right  action in such a complex and painful  situation.

Lucy is a New Life Ministry approved counselor  and travels with New Life to various cities across the United States to act as a small group facilitator in New Life Weekend’s  “Become the Miracle” expansive seminars.  Within that framework, she has taught  about forgiveness, relationship repair, anger management, grieving, healing old and new wounds, weight management,  rediscovering self,  and embracing  an open, loving  and fulfilling life. She has been a member since 2000 of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Moving to Texas in May of 2008, has  been  realization of a desire to live in an area with a more temperate climate so that Lucy can engage in outdoor activities year round. She owns a black and white paint gelding who is her own “therapy horse” and enjoys spending time on trail rides, jogging  and visiting her children  and family in different areas of the country. She  feels very privileged to be able to do the work she does helping others.
