The Houston Center for Christian Counseling was started in 1980 by Robert McGee. In 1986, Robert started an in-patient hospital unit called Rapha and appointed Dick and Bev Conant as Co-Directors of the Houston Center for Christian Counseling. The staff grew from two therapists to almost twenty. In the Fall of 1998, Tim Mavergeorge, formerly a program director with Rapha, joined our center as the Assistant Director. Tim is now the Director of Houston Center For Christian Counseling. All our therapists are biblically based and professionally trained through accredited graduate programs. Each has had to undergo rigorous training and testing to obtain licensure in the state of Texas.
Our therapists encompass a wide variety of gifts. Some work with children through play therapy. Children as young as two years old can receive help through this approach. Other therapists help adolescents and adults deal with problems of depression, anxiety, various addictions, eating disorders, abuse, blended family concerns, controlling anger, panic attacks, and many other problems. Our therapists will see couples for marital counseling or see whole families to work out relational difficulties.
Our rates are very reasonable. In many cases insurance may cover our services. We are quite willing to check with a person's insurance company before the first counseling session to 'pre-qualify' or pre-certify the individual. If the fee is a concern, individuals may inquire about our intern program. HCCC is a training center and takes on interns who need training hours under supervision to achieve licensure. We can work with individuals on rates that may be more agreeable to them if they will see our interns.
Our desire is to see God transform individuals to reflect His glory and any part we can play in that transformation is a privilege for us. Click on one of the items below for a detailed description of how we can help.
We can help...with His help.
