I have been a Christian counselor since 2010. I specialize in adolescents, women (with and without children), married couples, and families. I have worked extensively with families of adopted/foster children, and victims of abuse, neglect, and other traumas. My areas of specialty are adolescent issues, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and parenting.

I find great joy in walking alongside and empowering women as they navigate through the trials, frustrations, stresses and tragedies of life. Women who are experiencing significant transitions such as marital separations, divorce, career alterations, empty nest, and death/illness of friends and family members are dear to my heart. I enjoy helping my clients heal from their pain, and then watching as they ultimately find joy in the redefinition of their lives.

It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is the most powerful component in successful counseling. My goal is to see each client as Christ sees them which is valuable, precious, worthy of respect and dignity. I strive to create a counseling environment that is one of peace, acceptance, and hope.

The therapeutic techniques and tools I select are specific to each client and from a variety of theories. I believe we are to be God’s ambassadors in our dealings with others and that God is using me to confirm to people that He is at work bringing hope and restoration in the midst of life’s challenges. Although I am a Christian I am sensitive to meeting people where they are in terms of their spirituality. I integrate Biblical principles, prayer, and scripture into all of my techniques when approved by the client.

I am a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner. TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention designed for vulnerable children. TBRI uses principles to address physical and attachment needs and disarm fear-based behaviors of children from “hard places” of abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. Although designed for children, TBRI concepts are applicable to adolescents and adults and I utilize it in counseling clients that have experienced abuse, neglect and/or other traumas. Additionally, I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) trained to aid in trauma resolution. For my work with married couples, I have completed training in EFCT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) and Level 1 in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

I received my Master of Arts degree in Christian Counseling from Houston Baptist University in 2010. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in marketing from the University of Texas. My professional memberships include the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Christian Counselors of Texas (CCT), and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). I spent eight years as a commercial real estate broker before leaving the workforce for 20 years to raise my three sons. I have been married since 1987 and enjoy salt-water fishing, running, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
