Jane Ellen Miller
I have been a licensed social worker since 2011. My past experience includes working with adolescents in teen clinics, case management of individuals living with HIV and intensive psychiatric assessments of individuals in an emergency room setting. I have extensive experience in working with Depression, Anxiety, suicidal thoughts, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, and self-esteem.
Isaiah 64:8 says “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Each of us is a work in progress. I believe that therapy is oriented towards two outcomes: alleviating suffering and promoting human growth. My goal is to help you attain these outcomes. We will enter into a therapeutic relationship where both of us learn from one another. Your goals will determine the pace and process of our time together. I will meet you at whatever stage of life you are and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for which we can work.
I have a special heart for adolescents. I can vividly remember being a young teenager who felt as though she wasn’t enough (wasn’t pretty enough, skinny enough, smart enough). I am here to tell you, you ARE enough. I recognize the challenges that you endure (from peer pressure to drugs, to social media) and I believe that it is possible to come through adolescence with a sense of hope and excitement about the future.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christianity and Psychology from Houston Baptist University and then went on to earn a Masters in Social Work from the University of Houston. After earning my LMSW, I then did 2 years of clinical supervision to become an LCSW.
I have been married since 2010 and have one child and 2 cats. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling and drinking coffee with good friends.
