Advanced Certifications, Training, and Achievements
I have a B.A. from Baylor and a M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. I earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Individual Differences from the University of Houston. I also earned a Doctorate of Ministry. I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Certified School Counselor (CSC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).
In addition to my private counseling practice, I have more than a decade of experience in the K-12 public schools working with students in special education and emotionally disturbed. I am a licensed and ordained Southern Baptist Minister, have worked as a minister for more than two decades, and have worked in a residential treatment center for teens.
I have specialties working with children, adolescents, families and adults. I primarily work with people age eight and older. I work with transition issues, anger management, issues related to technology, school and career development, premarital counseling, social skills, parenting issues, addictions, suicide ideation or dealing with loss related to suicide, gender identity/same sex attraction, and most other issues that pertain to adolescence.
On a personal note, I believe that everyone is on a journey, and I hope to walk along-side and help all of my clients better navigate the road of life by following the healthiest, most satisfying, and Christ-honoring path possible. I employ a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive behavioral and client center therapy, to best meet my clients’ needs.
My wife Angela and I are long-time Katy residents who met while attending Katy High School. We have three children.
