Advanced Certifications, Training, and Achievements
I believe every individual has a unique story to tell. I try my best to listen openly and provide a safe, open environment to process and work through deep issues. While I do my best to relate to each client, I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to learn from you as well. I collaborate with my clients to discover avenues that lead to lasting change, but your willingness to work is a key piece of that process.
I work with individuals ages 10 through adulthood, as well as couples and families. My areas of interests are wide, but I am especially interested in working with individuals struggling with depression/anxiety, family or peer relationships, as well as grief/loss and transitions. I also have a passion for working with women who are waiting to become mothers or facing a variety of challenges adjusting to life as new mom.
I utilize tools from a variety of therapies, but developing a safe and comfortable relationship with each client is my first priority. I feel it is important to get to the root of an issue by figuring out where it began, process through it to find healing and acceptance, and then use tools and techniques to make specific changes in thoughts and behaviors. I have found that goal setting helps to track progress and can be a great motivator. I view counseling as a holistic process and integrate spiritual, physical, and mental aspects into the process, as you feel comfortable. I am also trained in EMDR therapy and find it extremely effective in working through many of life’s great challenges.
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and have a master of education in counseling from the University of Houston. I am working as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and have been at HCCC since early 2015. I am happily married, and my husband and I have two young daughters. We serve at our church in a variety of roles and love the community it provides. I enjoy quality time with loved ones, being outdoors, running, cycling, and a good DIY project!
