Clinical Areas of Focus
Life is a journey and occasionally we get “stuck”. Our “stuck-ness” may be relationships, sometimes it is current circumstances, sometimes it is our past, and sometimes we just don’t know. We all have the need to feel heard, understood, and safely connected to others. Helping people to get “unstuck” and live more productive and satisfying lives is my joy. I believe the therapeutic alliance between the client and the counselor is paramount for positive change. It would be my honor to work with you to gain a sense of clarity, balance, and overall well-being to get you moving again.
In my life, I use scripture as a foundation. However, I understand and respect that people may build different houses on that same foundation. Further, some people may not share the same foundation. I respect your uniqueness and will meet you where you are.
The theories and techniques that I utilize are evidence based. I primarily utilize the theories of Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused counseling, and the work of John Gottman (the leading marriage researcher of our time). Different approaches may be utilized to assist the client’s progress.
After completing a first career, I chose to become a counselor. I have a Master’s degree from the University of Houston, Victoria. I have worked at a non-profit counseling center for the past seven years. I have worked with couples, families, and adult women of various ages from diverse socio-economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
I am married with adult children and have a grandchild.
