You may be facing difficult challenges in your life. I commend you for recognizing that sometimes, we all need a little help. I would be truly honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and overall improved wellness.
I have always had a passion for helping others. Prior to my training as a counselor, I was a high school English, reading, and ESL teacher. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. Some of my most rewarding work is in utilizing person-centered play therapy to foster personal expression in children (ages 4-10) who are working through and healing from various traumas. I also enjoy working with pre-teens and teens dealing with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, peer pressure, family struggles, self-harm, self-esteem, and suicidal ideation. Another area of expertise is working with individuals suffering from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Helping those who have experienced loss and grief is another specialty I have.
In my personal and professional experience, faith can be a source of strength and hope for someone who is struggling. Integrating sound psychological practices with sound Biblical principals is helpful within the therapeutic process. With an integrative therapeutic approach, I apply both person-centered and strengths-based cognitive behavioral approaches in individual sessions. I am also trained in EMDR. It is important to me to develop a trusting and collaborative relationship with you by listening intently and without judgement.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Houston and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Houston – Victoria. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor–Associate as well as a National Certified Counselor under the supervision of Gerald Ford, M.Div., M.A., LPC-S, LMFT-S. I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
I have been married to my husband, John, since 1999. We have been blessed with two wonderful sons, Christian and Tanner. We enjoy traveling, playing tennis and pickleball, and cheering on the Astros.
