I enjoy working with individuals and couples. I work with adults and adolescents on a variety of issues including marriage and family issues, sexual addiction, pornography addiction, infidelity and affair recovery, men’s issues, unwanted same sex attraction, grief and loss, trauma recovery, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
I believe God is at the center of recovery from all mental health issues. I seek to integrate Biblical truth into my counseling while adhering to current clinical best practices. I have worked with many clients whose beliefs are different than mine, and I always seek to meet my clients where they are and work within their belief system. I believe a close working relationship is key to counseling, and I seek to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with all my clients.
I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and I am currently pursuing training and certification as a Christian Sex Addiction Specialist through Christian Sex Addiction Specialists International (C-SASI). My counseling approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while integrating other counseling theories that align with my client’s needs. I work with trauma victims using the Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) model of trauma recovery which lends itself to Christian integration. My work with couples is based heavily on the work of John and Julie Gottman and their sound relationship house model of healthy couples. I am passionate about counseling clients struggling with divorce, remarriage, adoption, and blended family issues. In addition to my clinical experience and training, I have personal experience with divorce, remarriage, interracial adoption, and blending families.”
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Liberty University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Houston Christian University. I am currently licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.
I previously worked in the petro-chemical industry for over 20 years where I managed projects in 46 states and 6 foreign countries. While I have traveled the world, I am a native Houstonian, and I have always called Texas my home. I enjoy spending time with my wife and our 4 children. We enjoy swimming, water sports, traveling, and watching our kids pursue their passions including football, orchestra, swimming, and student government. Personally, I enjoy woodworking, restoring old cars, and serving in the youth ministry at my church. My wife and I are also active in widow’s ministry, divorce recovery, and blended family ministries.
