I believe that God has given each one of us a divine purpose and a plan for our lives that can help navigate us through the obstacles and struggles in this world. As a counselor, I am committed to creating an environment centered on genuine care and interest towards each individual I work with to foster personal growth and healing.
As a Registered Play Therapist, I use Child Centered Play Therapy with children who would benefit from expressing themselves through play as part of the therapeutic process in a playroom. I also use Sandtray therapy and other expressive arts when working with older children and adolescents outside of the playroom to foster personal expression and healing in the counseling process. I have extensive experience working to support the needs children have in the educational environment including social skills, behavioral issues, coping skills, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, peer relationships, school problems, suicidal ideation, grief, loss and stress. I have been an Elementary School Counselor since 2013.
As a Christian, I believe that God can work through each individual in a variety of ways, and I believe it is important to respect where each person is in their own spiritual journey during the counseling process. I also use Solution-Focused Therapy with adolescents and older children who are needing support in targeting their own strengths to solve their problems and to help them reach their personal goals.
I am a member of the Association for Play Therapy, the Sam Houston Association for Play Therapy, and the Texas Counseling Association. I am also a Texas Certified School Counselor. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Christianity and Communication from Houston Baptist University and a Master of Education degree with a major in School Counseling from The University of Houston – Victoria. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, and a Registered Play Therapist.
