Hi, I'm Karen Cobb — I'm really glad you found your way here. God designed us for connection, and I believe healing happens best in the context of relationship: with God, with others, and with ourselves. I entered this field, in part, because I have walked my own path of healing — bringing hidden, wounded places into the light of God's presence and discovering there the beginning of true transformation. I find it a sacred privilege to walk alongside my clients as they do the same: processing pain, moving through the beliefs and patterns that have kept them stuck, and slowly reconnecting with the God-given capacity for healing that already resides within them. If you're carrying a weight that nothing seems to lift, please know this — you are not broken; you are someone whose nervous system learned, long ago, to survive something difficult, and simply hasn't yet found its way back to safety. My hope is to walk with you, at your own pace, toward the balance, meaning, and joy God intends for your life.
I work with clients age 14 and up, in both in-person and telehealth settings, with particular focus on anxiety, panic attacks, depression, complex trauma, attachment wounds, grief and loss, emotional dysregulation, and major life transitions. My cross-cultural experience — including trauma-informed support for survivors of sex trafficking in Cambodia and community outreach in Kenya — continues to shape how I show up for clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.
My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, attachment-based, and rooted in a Christian psychology framework, drawing from EMDR, Christ-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and Internal Family Systems/Parts Work, along with somatic, polyvagal-informed regulation and resourcing as needed for each client. I hold certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional: Complex Trauma (Levels I and II) and in Christ-Centered Therapy (Levels I and II), along with additional training including EMDR, a Level 1 course in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, a comprehensive course in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Trauma-Informed Yoga for Therapists, and the Certified Attachment & Personality Patterns Specialist (CAPPS) designation. I am also a Licensed iEQ9 Enneagram Practitioner and a Junior Fellow of the Christian Psychology Institute, continuing to be formed in the integration of biblical wisdom and clinical science.
I meet every client exactly where they are in their own spiritual journey, and I welcome those from all backgrounds and beliefs. I hold a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Houston Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in Texas under the supervision of Jeanne Hensley, LPC-S. My professional memberships include the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).
Outside the counseling room, family is deeply important to me. I am single and the proud mother of three adult children — two of whom are married, with our first grandchild on the way — and we're fortunate to all live within five miles of each other, gathering often and staying close. I love traveling with my family, especially to Colorado to hike in the mountains, and I also enjoy yoga, reading, and consider myself a lifelong learner.
