As a Christian counselor, I believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity, worth, and purpose. My faith shapes the way I understand people, suffering, healing, forgiveness, and hope. At the same time, I recognize individuals come to counseling with their own unique spiritual journey. My commitment is to meet you where you are, listen carefully to your story, and walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and respect.
I have the privilege of working with individuals and couples facing a variety of life's challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship distress, divorce, grief, career difficulties, life transitions, and questions of identity and purpose. My experience in leadership and people development allows me to understand many of the pressures associated with responsibility, performance, career demands, and major life decisions, while my counseling training provides the tools to help clients move toward meaningful growth and sustainable change.
My approach to counseling is both relational and practical. I believe people change best when they feel heard, understood, and respected. I also believe people are more resilient than they realize, and once they recognize this, hope begins to flourish. I strive to create an environment where clients can honestly explore their struggles while also being challenged to overcome negative thoughts, build stronger relationships, and work toward emotional and spiritual well-being. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy while tailoring the counseling process to the unique needs of each client.
My journey to the counseling profession was not straightforward. Before becoming a counselor, I spent decades leading people in executive roles. During those years, I learned that behind every title, accomplishment, setback, and success story is a real person carrying burdens, hopes, fears, and unanswered questions which often remain hidden from those they care about most. This understanding inspired me to become a professional counselor.
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and hold a Master of Business Administration degree. I am pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under clinical supervision.
I have been married to Paula, my wife, for many years, and together we have been blessed with a passel of children and grandchildren. Outside of counseling, I enjoy writing, reading, music, golf, and spending time with family extended family. It would be an honor to walk alongside you as you pursue healing, growth, and a deeper sense of hope.
