I believe that God made the human hand to hold another human hand. He revealed Himself in the Bible as a relational God, who made us relational in His own image. I felt the calling of God on my life to be a counselor all my life. It became reality after having my Master of Education in Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, and obtaining my Texas license as a Professional Counselor. I am a member in Texas Counseling Association.

My approach in counseling is existential and attachment based. I became endorsed by the Texas Association of Infant Mental Health after extensive training in evaluating and treating unhelpful patterns of relating to self and others that were learned early in life. Establishing a safe therapeutic relationship with my client is a key for trust, transparency, and healing. I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy to help my client overcome unrealistic thoughts and challenge their own core beliefs. I strive to be fully present with my clients in facing unchangeable life situations and find acceptance, meaning, and hope.

I work with clients seeking help with relationship issues, parenting skills, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, anger and stress management, boundaries, and assertiveness.  My areas of training also include childhood behavioral issues.  I work with adults individually as well as couples or families.

I was born and raised in Egypt. I am from a Christian family and have worked as a dentist in the past. Our family moved from Egypt to the United States in 1990, due to my husband’s job transfer. I became a full time homemaker for 6 years. During that time, God’s calling on my life to become a counselor became clear. My name, Salwa, means comfort and consolations and has been a reminder of my true calling.

I have been married since 1980 and have 2 adult children. I am bilingual (English and Arabic). I enjoy my morning walks, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends. I am an active member in our church in Sugar Land since 1990.
