“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” - C.S. Lewis
As a counselor, I want to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and understood while seeking help and support. I believe it is extremely important to build trust with every client by creating a calm, safe and trusting environment. I know the courage and humility it takes to reach out for help. I am passionate about helping those who are hurting find healing and freedom. I also meet my clients where they are spiritually, and we work together from that starting point. I would be truly honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and overall improved wellness.
I firmly believe that Jesus has the power to meet you right where you are and restore joy, peace, purpose, and hope to whatever situation you may be facing. My desire is to use my experience, skills, specialized training, and education to help you experience the abundant life for which you were created.
I have a Master’s degree in Social Work and am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I have specialized training in trauma, grief, addictions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I have a certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling. I enjoy tailoring sessions to your unique needs, interests, and comfort level. This may include integrating prayer, mindfulness techniques, movement, art, writing, or music into sessions. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and holistic.
I have also provided counseling to parents of struggling teens and women facing trauma, anxiety, and depression. My experience founding and running Freestyle Ministries has given me a special interest in working with women in ministry/leadership who are struggling with perfectionism, burnout, or compassion fatigue.
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and teens. This includes working as an addiction counselor, running a ministry helping high-risk youth, and working as a mental health counselor in schools. These experiences have given me a passion for helping children, teens and young adults overcome trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, life changes, identity issues, and depression.
I have been happily married since 2006 and have a son and a young adult step-daughter. In my free time I enjoy homeschooling, taking my son to the skate park, painting, writing, nature walks, listening to music, or reading a good book.
